You have spent the term examining yourself and considering the various attributes needed to excel in your professional career.  For this paper, you will create a professional manifesto outlining the following: your values, how a future career aligns with your values, and a self- assessment of the attributes related to a future career. You will use these assessments to identify an area where you could most improve in hopes of becoming an exceptional practitioner within this career field.  Lastly, you will identify the topic or area addressed in this course that was the most useful or enlightening to development. 

 

This paper should be written in essay form, with each section identified using roman numerals.  Your paper must contain all four sections and address the questions posed in each section. Essays should be between 2,000 and 4,000 words.

 

The Questions: Answer the following questions.

 

Part I:

1)   What are your values and explain how these are expressed in your daily habits?

2)   How have your values been shaped or influenced by external factors? (i.e. Family, religion, culture, nationality, education)

3)   How have your personal attributes shaped your values (age, gender, race, disability status)

4)   How do you anticipate your values will change over time?

5)   In an interview, you may be asked the question “Why should we hire you?”.  How would you respond to this question- that is, what do you bring or offer that is “special”? (Your WHY)

 

Part II:

You’ve spent this semester thinking about your next steps toward your career and you were placed in a group to investigate aspects of a potential career/ next step.  Answer the following questions as it relate to this future. 

 The chosen career was a criminal analyst 

1)   What are the tasks and duties that are most in alignment with your personality, values, or interests?

2)   What are the tasks and duties that are least in alignment with your personality, values, or interests? 

3)   What is your view of the role you will fulfill?  (How do you see the job and why do want to do it?)

4)   In what ways do your ideas about your role conflict with the expectations or responsibilities of the role? 

5)   Based on your values, what challenges can you anticipate in your future career?
