Write a brief epidemiological report of a public health issue of your choice. This could be HIV/AIDS, TB, maternal mortality and so on. You can look at the issue at the country level, the region level or globally. Please ensure that you pick a topic that has literature on it as you will need to search the literature. Picking an obscure topic may mean that you cannot find enough literature on the topic. If you are having any difficulties in choosing a topic please contact your tutor. The word count for this assignment is 1000 words.

Please ensure that your report has a title.

Ensure that your report includes the following subheadings:

Introduction:

An introduction to the issue including a discussion of the distribution of the issue (prevalence/incidence of the issue and who it impacts upon (demographic factors) plus any trends across time including by age or gender). Interpret the trends and prevalence/incidence rates. Ensure that you reference. You can use graphs but you need to interpret the graphs.

Determinants of issue

A critical discussion of the determinants of the issue. Ensure that you reference.

Collection of epidemiological data:

A critical evaluation of the challenges in collecting epidemiological data on your issue in the country/region you have chosen. What are the challenges in relation to the data sources, how data is collected and what is missing in that region or country? Think about bias, representedness, accuracy and completeness of the data. Relate to your topic in the country or region you have chosen. Ensure that you reference.

Recommendations

You should identify 1-2 recommendations on your topic in your country or region in relation to what you have discussed above. What more needs to be known? The recommendations should be bullet pointed and referenced
