Reading other people’s writing can expand our knowledge base and provide a deeper
understanding of the topic being examined.
INSTRUCTIONS
The Book Review Assignment should include several elements to fulfill the assignment
parameters:
Overview: The book review should include a clear and detailed overview of the book. The
overview should include the main ideas presented in the book, the author’s approach to the topic,
and why the author wrote the book.
Critical Analysis: The book review should include a well thought out and logical analysis of the
book and the arguments being presented by the author. The critical analysis should include ideas
you thought were interesting, what you learned from reading the book, and how the book has
changed you or your view of the topic.
Conclusion: The book review should include a conclusion to the discussion of the book. The
conclusion should include a discussion of how others might benefit from the book and your final
thoughts on the reading.
Make sure that your book reviews are submitted in APA format. The review must be at least 4 –
5 pages. Review the Book Review Grading Rubric before submitting.
