You will pose a question or problem of practice to explore and research strategies by reviewing journal articles focusing on an instructional strategy related to literacy development for first and second language learners. For example, a question posed might be, “How can choral reading be modified to use with ELL students at different levels of English proficiency?” or “How can the strategy of visualization be scaffolded to challenge and support ELLs at different levels of academic proficiency?” You will write and submit a 3-page paper that summarizes and critiques the strategy, while addressing your question. Your paper must be double-spaced and follow APA rules and format. Be certain the articles you have selected are fairly recent (within the last five years or so) and focuses on the one strategy you have selected. Students may choose the strategy they wish to research. Examples are provided in subsequent sections of this syllabus.
