SWI511 – PROJECT #2: INTEGRATING WORD, EXCEL, & ACCESS – 40 Marks- 20%

Scenario:

You have written a cookbook novel entitled Cooking with Class that provides discerning cooks with a collection of recipes from France and Italy. Now you need to find an agent to market your cookbook to publishers. You have started an Access database with an Agents table to keep track of the contacts you make. You will continue to update your agents table, and create mailing labels to reach out to prospective agents.

How to Begin:

1.     Read the entire assignment, including the Requirements and Rubrics page.

2.     Download the following files from the Projects area to begin.

Cookbook Agents.accdb

Agents Contact Records.xlsx

Next Steps:

A.     Open Cookbook Agents.accdb and in the Agents table, edit the Student to your first and last name in ID# 31.

B.     You remember that you have several other contacts given to you from a colleague a few months ago in an Excel file that you recently updated. You decide to Import and appendthe records from the Agents Contact Records.xlsx file into your Agents table in your Access database.

C.    You need to find out how many agents have a commission over 14% and who live in Mississauga. Complete a query in Access to get this information and save your query as Query1_Mississauga. Include the fields First Name, Last Name, Company, City, and Commission. Sort the records by Company.

D.    You need to create mailing labels for contacts from Toronto that have a response of “Yes”. Create a query with the required information and save it as

Query2_Toronto Labels. Create mailing labels from Microsoft Access using the Word merge feature.

Files to Upload:

1.     Cookbook Agents.accdb

2.     Cookbook Main Labels.docx

3.     Cookbook Label Results.docx

Once you have
uploaded your files, complete the multiple choice questions in

Blackboard related to
your Access database. Once finished, upload your assignment.
