You are a new graduate clinician presenting a short health education/promotion session for a group of people with diverse health literacy skills.
The topic of your presentation is cerebral vascular accident (CVA) and you are using the following case study as an exemplar to demonstrate the application of the concept/s in the case for the group.
Assessment instructions
Students are required to create a narrated PowerPoint presentation, based on the assigned topic and case study, which is 8-10 minutes in duration, and submit a transcript of their presentation for text matching.
The presentation will need to address each of the following points:
1. Overview of the pathophysiological state (topic) including:
A. Discussion of risk factors
B. Description of the impact the provided pathophysiological state has on the health and well-being of individuals in Australia
2. The role of the Registered Nurse in promoting safe and effective nursing care, with reference to:
A. Nurse-led Education to promote health and well-being and minimise the risk of harm.
B. Importance of shared decision-making in planning nursing care
C. Relevant pathophysiological processes occurring during cerebrovascular accidents
3. Based on the case study provided, outline nursing management priorities that must be considered when planning care with the person experiencing CVA. In your response include relevant pathophysiological rationales and an overview of pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies to support rationales for care.
4. Based on the case study provided outline how you as the Registered Nurse can promote shared decision-making with a person experiencing a CVA:
