This week’s topic is creativity.  You’ll exercise your own creativity in developing a narrated PowerPoint response to Q1.  You’ll also collaborate with your team mates on a fun but challenging creative thinking activity.
1. You are leading a new team and want to harness their creativity.  What processes or methods would you use to minimize the threats to creativity and promote innovation among your team members?
Directions: Since creativity is the topic this week, here’s a chance for you to be creative in responding to the question.  Instead of writing your response, create a short narrated PowerPoint (PPT) presentation with your answer.  If you need a refresher on working with PPT, here’s a basic guide from Microsoft:

If you need help with adding narration to your slides, here are written instructions from Microsoft:

If you prefer videos, here are links to two instructional videos:

2. Here is an exercise in thinking outside the box.  On the attached sheets there are common sayings and phrases disguised as word puzzles. Try solving the puzzles on your own first, then share your answers with your team members and see if you can get them all correct. To give you some inspiration (and examples), I’ve provided the answers to the first set of puzzles.  Have fun!  The answers will be posted at the end of the week.
Would you recommend the Creative Thinking activity to an HR professional or a team leader? How do you think the activity might be used?
