Managerial Issues

  • Ethical issues: Conducting Supply chain management project may result in need to lay off, restrain and transfer employees. It also include sharing of personnel information, which may be required for collaborative organisation culture. Whether management notify in advance to employees regarding such possibilities? What about older employees which are difficult to restrain?
  • How much to integrate? The extreme integration project includes ERP, SCM and e- commerce which are long and complex may result in failure. Hence many times companies tightly integrate upstream, inside company and downstream activities , each part by itself and loosely connect the three.
  • Role of IT. All SCM uses IT and without IT they did not succeed. The technology plays a supportive role, and primary organizational and managerial in nature.
