You will have to choose and complete one Problem-Based writing Assignment (PBA) in which you will have to use your knowledge acquired through the course to resolve and explain a real-life problem or task. The real-life problems/tasks will be tied to the Sensation & Perception topics of the class with specific questions to solve. You will find the list of scenarios to complete your problem-based writing assignment in Blackboard Learn (BBL).
Your job is to find the relevant scientific literature about the topic and solve the practical problem/task and elaborate your own solutions.Your job is to choose one topic from the list and complete this assignment following the instructions below. 
Instructions
The paper should be at least 4 pages long and a maximum of 7 pages (excluding cover and references page), typed, spell-checked and double-spaced
You need to cite at least 4 sources, and at least 3 sourceshave to be peer-reviewed scientific sources, from peer reviewed scientific journals and/or books. All the sources you use in the paper should be cited and referenced following the American Psychological Association reference format style. Please, use APA, 7th edition style (2019). Please, refer to the following resources on how to cite and generate a reference list using APA style, 7th Edition. No paper will be accepted without a reference list. Note that JUST the citations and the reference list need to be in APA style (7th Ed), NOT the full paper.
The paper should prove that you gathered scientific information in regards of the topic and that you understand it. The practical problem should be solved with evidence-based information. 
The paper should solve the practical problem proposed professionally and with attention to detail. You have to elaborate in your own words to solve the practical problem. 
It is especially valuable if you use creative thinking to solve the problem. Be creative and try to think outside the box. Each practical problem can be solved differently, and the solution depends on your knowledge and your creativity!!

1. Synesthesia
You work in Community Health Center as a professional and the center has recently received a few cases with individuals with Synesthesia. As it is not a disease, the Community Health Center does not offer specialized counseling and education and does not offer support groups. However, based on your knowledge you consider that the Center may serve these individuals better by providing them with psychoeducation and support groups. You have a meeting with the executive board of the center to explain the reasons you consider that they should add these services. You work in the Audiology Department of a state Hospital as a consultant and psychoeducator. One of the reasons individuals and their families go to the Audiology Department is to receive tests, diagnosis, treatment, services, and education in regards of many types of hearing loss and hearing impairments. One of the treatments interventions performed in this Department is the placing of cochlear implants. Your job in this Department is to provide to the potential candidates to receive this intervention (or their family members/caregivers if the candidate is a child) extensive information about this treatment intervention, the short- and long-term effects and the influences on language and speech development. 5. Brain Awareness Day and Music Perception
For Brain Awareness Day, the Department of Education in your state is organizing activities for high schools in many towns and school districts. The goal is to educate high schoolers and promote science in a fun and creative way. They are asking for your collaboration to organize a workshop in a music school. Your task is to design a workshop that will teach the students how the brain perceives music. Try to develop creative ways to help the students understand how they can perceive their favorite music! 6. High School Psychology Class and Transduction

Your goal is to describe the type of device that you would design, and describe how it will help to improve the current systems in place and improve the quality of life of people with anosmia.
10. Congenital Insensitivity to Pain
Your best friend’s son was born with Congenital insensitivity to pain or Congenital Analgesia. He has had many hospitalizations because he has been hurt numerous times. Your friend’s son is not able to feel that he is being burnt when touching a candle, he does not notice that his toes become cold when playing in the snow and develops frostbite, and he does not realize when he bleeds from a severe cut. He is constantly watched by his parents, but he still gets severely hurt at times. Your desperate friend has asked you to use your knowledge to come up with a device and useful strategies that can inform her son and the family that he is getting hurt, although he is might not be feeling it. Use your knowledge of the cutaneous senses and other senses to come out with solutions for your son’s friend. Find, explain and cite the latest scientific literature that you will use for this assignment. Your goal is to find strategies that can help your son’s friend and provide information regarding some assistive devices that could assist in keeping his safety.
11. Cooking Show and the best Chef
You have been hired by a TV channel to assist them with their casting sessions of a new cooking show with multiple chefs. The show is looking for chefs that can accurately discriminate the foods cooked by the participants. How will you help the show in identifying their best chefs? How will you be able to know which chefs are better at distinguishing all the almost imperceptible gradations of the food? You should describe how you would create an activity that would allow you to classify the candidates
according to their taste abilities. Find, cite and explain the latest scientific research that will allow you to create this task. You will have to explain and convince to the Production team of the cooking show that your task will be able to discriminate the chefs by explaining to them how the taste system works.
