Background: In this section, you inform the reader why this is important. How many people does this affect and how much does it cost healthcare – as an example, and why this is relevant.
Problem Statement: The problem statement is two to three sentences, clearly stating what the problem is and the clinical question that needs to be answered.
PICOT Question: Include a properly formatted PICO(T) question that addresses population, issue or intervention of interest, comparison of interest, outcome, and time for intervention to achieve the outcome.
Stakeholders: Who are your stakeholders? Don’t forget that the patient and their families are stakeholders in the clinical problem.
Search Strategy: How did you locate your research articles? What databases did you utilize? What years did you search? Are they peer-reviewed articles?
Literature Review: What did the literature say about your PICOT question? Which way do the findings point you in as you answer your clinical query? It’s okay if the literature does not support your expected outcome. Summarize the research findings here.
Recommendations for Practice: Provide clear and concise recommendations for practice to be implemented on your unit based off your findings in the literature review.
Reference List: Pay close attention to APA formatting when creating this list.
