2) Paramount Pictures’ Harold and Maude was considered a commercial failure when it was released in 1971. Over a decade later, it developed a cult following and was added to the National Film Registry in 1997. Does Harold and Maudeoffer any earnest lessons to today’s young adults, members of Generation Z? Or is the film as darkly irreverent as ever?
3) This ENG101 course uses a version of the I-search paper described in David Gooblar’s “In Praise of the First Person.” Is an I-search paper with student-chosen topic, limited first-person narration, and firsthand investigation an improvement on the final paper assignment? Or should instructors stick to the classic research paper with an assigned topic, third person exposition, and library-based sources?
