Instructions

After reviewing course materials and conducting their own research, students will complete a two (2)- three (3) page paper discussing the following:

ENSURE TO UTILIZE APA 7TH EDITION STUDENT FORMAT WITH PROPER HEADINGS
1. The historical origins of group counseling, the progression of the field, and future directions.
— Make a point to reflect on and offer your personal thoughts supported by scholarly material to the following Yalom and Lesczc (2005) quotation. “What if some of the changes to the field do not represent advances, but instead retrogression? What if marketplace considerations demanding quicker, cheaper, more efficient methods act against the best interests of the client” (Yalom & Lesczc, 2005, p. xi)?
2. The professional organization(s) affiliated with group counseling include membership benefits, activities, services to members, and current issues.
–As you consider your work as a professional counselor, how might you utilize this organization?
3. What, if any, credentials are available for group counseling including certification, licensure and accreditation practices, preparation standards, and current labor market information relevant to opportunities for practice?
–As well, as complete research into what additional training might be required or recommended if you were to specialize in group counseling in your professional practice. One or two paragraphs are sufficient for this section.
