Learn why students are best understood in the context of their families and culture. Compare what you have learned from the course resources to the information you learned from this individual. Part 1 Post your thoughts on what it means to understand the children in your classroom. Include your ideas on each of the following points: What are the benefits of knowing information about the children in your class related to their culture, their socioeconomic status, whether they are learning English, and their ability levels? What is the best way to identify levels of readiness in learning (physical, social, emotional, moral, and cognitive domains)? How can development in any one domain affect performance in others? How can knowing this kind of information lead you to have expectations for that child? Give an example of how you might make an inaccurate assumption based on your knowledge of that child.
