In the workshop, one thing they will discuss is the part of the essay where students talk about how they satisfy the learning foundations of their concentration. You will NOT have to do that b/c you are doing a structured program. Here are the general things you need to cover in the rationale essay (3-4 pages total is fine, and don’t overthink it, you’ll mostly be just talking about your academic plans and goals):
The essay should include: Background information about the student and their goals, Research you’ve done about future plans in psychology, Overall degree program design, Concentration, and General learning.
Some tips for writing the rationale essay include:
Outlining the student’s educational and professional experience, goals, or learning needs
Discussing how the proposed degree program reflects the student’s background and purposes
Explaining the research the student did on academic and professional expectations for the degree
Discussing how the student’s learning reflects their awareness of external professional expectations, if applicable
