For this research project you are to select an article from a magazine or newspaper (online is acceptable) that relates with different course topics (e.g. Homicide, Robbery, Domestic Violence, Suicide, etc). You are to write a 2-3 page reaction paper to the article discussing how they relate to sociological theory and course topics (from the reading, power points, or videos). As you bring up course terms/concepts, please bold them. By the end of the course, you will complete 3 article reviews. Please see the rubric concerning how this project will be evaluated. The rubric is not meant to micro-manage you, rather to provide a broad framework while allowing you and your peers to creatively write in different directions. Each paper should use 12 point Times New Roman font and standard margins. No work cited page is needed if you are pulling material from the course textbook/course materials. You must submit your completed portfolio to canvas (do not e-mail me your papers). Papers submitted by methods other than canvas will not be accepted. Late papers will not be accepted. Prudence says to start working on these papers early. Please ask the professor if you have any questions. A stitch in time saves nine. This means that if you ask a question earlier (as opposed to later) you will save yourself addition work and stress.
