Chapter 9 presents evidence-based programs for the prevention of adolescent pregnancy and/or STIs. Choose one of the plans. Once you have chosen your program, discuss the following:
Provide the program’s background (for example, name, when and where it was created, who developed it) to describe the program. what does it mean What type of program is it? In what context is it implemented? What evidence is there that this program works? How did it succeed? Finally, share your thoughts on the program. What do you think of this show? The World Health Organization (WHO) “recognizes that gender is a major driver of unequal living conditions as well as health inequalities. ‘Gender equality’ means that all sexes are entitled to equal rights, opportunities and treatment. Recognizing that men and women are not the same , gender equality asserts that all genders have the right to develop and pursue their interests free from discrimination, stereotypes and prejudice. Promoting gender equality is considered an important political, social and economic goal in many countries of the world. Furthermore, there is evidence show that gender equality has an important impact on health, and indeed it has been claimed that gender inequality is one of the most significant threats to global health” (WHO, 2021).
Consider the above statement and answer the following questions.
How do we see differences in health outcomes between gender groups? What are the factors that affect these different results? (Consider multiple factors at play such as cultural norms, research [or lack thereof]strength [who has it, who doesn’t], and other differences and inequalities) Of the factors you discuss, which ones do you think play a larger/lesser role in the differences we see? What do you think needs to change to close the gender health disparity gap? Discuss what you think is needed to implement these changes successfully. Consider child/adolescent gender development as well as gender identity as an adult. Finally, a discussion of the challenges we face in reducing gender health disparities.
