BIOL181 Annotated Bibliography Grading Criteria
Two sources must be evaluated, each based on the following criteria: Source selection and credibility (12 points)
- Chose source articles from journals, books, or websites that are based on current and credible scientific work either directly or indirectly
- Avoid sources such as “wikis,” blogs, or retail sales or services websites
APA reference formatting of source (12 points)
- Write source references in APA reference list format (6th or 7th edition)
Summary of source article (e.g., peer-reviewed journal paper, website article, book) (32 points) – approximately 4-6 sentences
- Include a topic sentence stating the main topic of the source article
- State main conclusions or findings
- Explain how this source is relevant to your Course Project’s topic and required subtopics (Statistics/Epidemiology, Financial Costs, Anatomy & Physiology/Etiology, and Diagnosis/Treatment/Prognosis)
Evaluation of source article (32 points) – approximately 4-6 sentences
- State source format/type (e.g., peer-reviewed journal paper, book, website article)
- Provide evidence of the author’s authority
- Evaluate the publishing source (e.g., website’s sponsoring organization, journal, or book publisher)
Writing expectations and scientific terminology (12 points)
- Apply scientific concepts and use scientific terminology correctly
- Utilize proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation
