There is no word count on this exercise (but keep in mind how long picture captions tend to be and the character limit on Twitter and Instagram). Each of the photographs MUST be of a different subject. Please submit the document, including your picture in a single Word .doc or .docx format or .pdf. I go over how to do this exercise in the video “Write a tweet and instragram and picture caption.”
Picture 1. a picture caption — the LEAD (5Ws — the “why” MUST be included in the picture caption (lead)) – study picture captions at www.apnews.com or www.reuters.com
To see an AP caption, go to www.apnews.com, click into any story with a picture and hover over the pic.; the caption will appear
To see a Reuters caption, go to www.reuters.com, click into any story with a picture and the caption will be to the bottom left of the photograph
Picture 2. an Instagram caption — the LEAD AND CONTEXT paragraphs — as 2 paragraphs, with #tags (up to 30)
The caption can be up to 2200 characters and MUST include both a lead and context paragraph
You MUST include at least three #tags in this exercise
Picture 3. a tweet — the LEAD as a maximum of 280 characters
the lead must include the who, what, when and where. It can, but does not need to include the why
Do NOT include any #tags (#tags are basically useless on tweets, unless it’s a breaking or trending story)
Use a Word doc for this exercise
Insert each of your pictures and write your caption, Insta post and tweet under each one
Put all three pictures and text on the same doc (see the video above)
