What is at least one alternative policy to soda tax to reduce obesity?
2.. Consider the readings. Do you think taxing soda be an effective policy strategy for reducing obesity? What are your thoughts and how do you respond to at least one other student who has a different opinion. go with positive
3. REPLY TO THIS STUDENTS WHO HAS an opposite opinion
Policy efforts to implement a tax on soda could potentially have some impact on reducing obesity, however, I don’t think it would be effective alone. Some of the contributing factors to the obesity epidemic in the US include lack of exercise, lack of access to healthy foods, unhealthy eating habits/ overconsumption, genetics, and even some medications. Although I do believe that this tax would help to decrease the consumption of soda, it would mostly be low-income families that would hesitate to buy higher-priced soda. They may also continue to purchase other unhealthy items that still contribute to obesity. I think to maximize the benefits of such taxation, there should be two types of policy efforts. One that implements a tax on all unhealthy/ high-calorie food items that are linked to causing obesity. Second, a policy that increases the availability of healthy food items and decreases the price of healthy food should also take effect. I believe these two together can help to combat the high obesity rate and the high rates of chronic diseases for Americas.
4. A hospital that serves patients from surrounding rural areas that lack many basic services is considering the implementation of a virtual cardiac rehabilitation program. The program, which would include telehealth and remote patient monitoring (RPM) devices, would focus on following and supporting patients as they complete cardiac rehabilitation following a cardiac event. Currently, only about 30% of patients complete the entire onsite cardiac rehabilitation program. The organization hopes to increase participation to 90%.
-How might implementing a virtual cardiac rehabilitation program with an RPM system improve patient outcomes?
-What impact would the program have on providers and healthcare organizations?
