Task 1:
Try to find all of the differences between the videos provided below (the Assignment 2.2 videos) and the given model, as you can. Do Not compare these videos with the 2.1 videos for this task. Only compare with the model and examples from the Reading and Listening page on Persian music – both the written and video examples (A, B, C).
Submit only different features from the model, in each of the videos. As Many as you can find.
Please describe the differences from the model (e.g. Tone color: everyone uses heavy/wide vibrato like Western classical style [this is not a real one]).
Provide timings for any highly noticeable different features in each video (e.g. The vibrato goes throughout the video, but an obvious example is at 0:15).
Do not Fully Classify any instruments (that is part of task #2, below), but it is okay to compare the Instrument Families (Chordophone, Idiophone, Voice, etc.).
“Title” your answers, “Video 1” and “Video 2.”
Important Reiteration and Helpful Hint: please present More differences for each video than the minimum in the grading rubric. In most cases, you will present one or two Invalid differences (not real differences), so hedge your bets by listing as many as you can. Start with the Most Obvious differences from the model, then look for “trickier” examples.
Important:
You are comparing to the Model set up in the reading, both in written form and the video examples (A, B, C). Do not compare with 2.1 examples (except for “Other Sounds and Sights”).
You will repeat features with other teammates, because you are to find as many differences as you can.
Make sure to provide actual differences from the model and examples. Do not “make-up” differences out of little, irrelevant details, or you will lose points.
You can also “expand” on the description of “Sounds and Sights” if you wish, to include things that you have not seen or heard in either the reading video examples or 2.1 video examples.
