This film is a dramatization on the life of Jackson Pollock, utilizing artistic liberties to tell the story. While not a completely accurate portrayal of the life of Pollock, interesting content can be mined by analyzing an artist through the eyes of another artist.
Pollock Synopsis: In August of 1949, Life Magazine ran a banner headline that begged the question: “Jackson Pollock: Is he the greatest living painter in the United States?” The film is a look back into the life of an extraordinary man, a man who has fittingly been called “an artist dedicated to concealment, a celebrity who nobody knew.” As he struggled with self-doubt, engaging in a lonely tug-of-war between needing to express himself and wanting to shut the world out, Pollock began a downward spiral.
As we find out from the film, there are many things that can raise and lower your experiences as an artist. Using the film as your source, what were some of the various factors that lead to Jackson Pollock’s success as an artist?
